Air fryer “fried” pickles

Air fryer “fried” pickles

I love fried pickles, probably a little too much, but who doesn’t? So when I got my air fryer I was determined to make an alternative to actual “fried” pickles. I love to try to take generally unhealthy things and make them at least a little bit healthier. And let me tell you, I am so impressed with these pickles that they can pass for the Buffalo Wild Wings fried pickles (my favorite).

Ingredients:

  • 1 jar hamburger-style pickles (reserving 1/2 cup of pickle juice).
  • 1 cup cornmeal
  • 3/4 cup flour
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tbsp creole seasoning
    • If you don’t have this, use garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, paprika, parsley, oregano, and a dash of chili powder.
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 tbsp oil
  1. In a medium bowl add the milk and the pickled juice along with the pickles. Set this aside.
  2. In another medium bowl combine the cornmeal, cornstarch, flour, and creole seasoning, and mix together.
  3. Warm your air fryer to 400 degrees.
  4. Take a handful of pickles and drop into the breading mixture, then toss the pickles in the mixture. I have found this is the quickest and least messy way to get all of the pickles dredged evenly.
  5. Spray the air fryer with oil and add a single layer of pickles. Then spray the top of the pickles with oil.
  6. Let cook in the air fryer for 10-12 minutes flipping halfway.
  7. Repeat until all the pickles are cooked.

Serve with my favorite, spicy ranch, or your favorite dipping sauce.
