I love fried pickles, probably a little too much, but who doesn’t? So when I got my air fryer I was determined to make an alternative to actual “fried” pickles. I love to try to take generally unhealthy things and make them at least a little bit healthier. And let me tell you, I am so impressed with these pickles that they can pass for the Buffalo Wild Wings fried pickles (my favorite).
Ingredients:
- 1 jar hamburger-style pickles (reserving 1/2 cup of pickle juice).
- 1 cup cornmeal
- 3/4 cup flour
- 2 tbsp cornstarch
- 1 tbsp creole seasoning
- If you don’t have this, use garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, paprika, parsley, oregano, and a dash of chili powder.
- 1 cup milk
- 1 tbsp oil
- In a medium bowl add the milk and the pickled juice along with the pickles. Set this aside.
- In another medium bowl combine the cornmeal, cornstarch, flour, and creole seasoning, and mix together.
- Warm your air fryer to 400 degrees.
- Take a handful of pickles and drop into the breading mixture, then toss the pickles in the mixture. I have found this is the quickest and least messy way to get all of the pickles dredged evenly.
- Spray the air fryer with oil and add a single layer of pickles. Then spray the top of the pickles with oil.
- Let cook in the air fryer for 10-12 minutes flipping halfway.
- Repeat until all the pickles are cooked.
Serve with my favorite, spicy ranch, or your favorite dipping sauce.
